What we do…
WINE AND THE COUNTRY is a wine shop that boasts a wine list akin to the finest restaurants in Australia. But in an accessible retail setting like no other. You can actually sit in and sample wines by the glass and local produce before making your bottle selection. It’s the ‘sit-in’ wine shop experience. Focused on boutique producers from Western Zone Victoria as well as featuring the International greats, most of these wines would not be accessible anywhere other than cellar doors or high end restaurant wine lists.
Some background about our business…
WINE AND THE COUNTRY started with Owen Latta and wife Jen Sheahan wanting to make the move from Melbourne to be closer to their winery ‘Eastern Peake’, located 30 minutes from Daylesford.
Jen, with a business history of Marketing, PR & Event Management always wanted to open a wine shop to support small producers just like Eastern Peake. Small producers in regional Vic doing phenomenal things to the food & wine scene of Melbourne & Sydney.
And that’s when WINE AND THE COUNTRY was born. Using Owen’s lifelong history of being in the ‘wine scene’, they curated a list of wines of small producers, vignerons and growers whose wines were sensational. A wine list that you normally wouldn’t have access to. It’s a fine wine selection in a retail setting, only made possible with Owen & Jen’s personal relationships with some of Australia’s best producers.
